  • Friday: Open script test on “Oedipus the King”

  • The student will begin the study of Theatre and the Greeks
  • The student will read a play, OEDIPUS REX, aloud in class.

  • Monday: Review theatre etiquette info sheet 
  • Tuesday: Begin discussion of theatre’s origins
  • Wednesday: Continue with theatre origins
  • Thursday: Begin reading “Oedipus the King.”
  • Friday: Continue reading “Oedipus the King.”

Objective(s):

  • The student will present their personal monologues
  • The student will take a quiz on theatre/stage terminology
  • The student will discuss theatre etiquette
  • The student will begin study of theatre history, beginning with theatre’s origins, as well as that of the Greeks

TEKS: 117.315: (Level 1)  3B, 4A; (Level 2) 1B, 1C, 3B; (Level 3) 1G 

  • Monday: Complete personal monologues/Discuss theatre etiquette
  • Tuesday: Quiz on stage terminology
  • Wednesday: Begin study on theatre etiquette
  • Thursday: Work on fall play audition monologues
  • Friday: Discuss auditions. If time allows, begin lesson on theatre’s origins

Objective(s):

  • The student will prepare and deliver personal “story monologues” to the class.
  • The student will become familiar with basic theatre terminology
  • The student will review class rules and procedures

TEKS: 117.315: (Level 1)  1F, 2F

  • Monday: Teacher workday
  • Tuesday: Teacher workday
  • Wednesday: Review class rules/discuss upcoming year’s theatre/UIL plans
  • Thursday: Assign and work on personal monologues (Monologue directions are posted on Google Classroom)
  • Friday: Deliver personal monologues to the class
